Following up on my Bax Bear posts, the party went great with over 1000 people recorded as attending. It was crazy walking into El Kartel with a packed room full of people and over 100 customized bears. Some of the artists were set up at the back doing live customs.
The designs were all voted on by everyone and mine ended up 2nd, right behind Dave Barnes’ incredible piece. I just met with Michael from Snowcap Trading and OSO Design House and it sounds like some more things will be happening in the near future.
Sounds like all the bears are now on their way to Holland to go up in a gallery there, then on to Miami, I believe.

This was a website I finished a while ago but have been so busy I haven’t had a chance to post anything about it. Check out Adrenaline Vancity , Vancouver’s biggest tattoo and piercing shop with a number of locations on both the east and west coast. The website is full flash, powered by a client management system that allows them to update everything themselves.
Hope you like.

So I finally finished customizing the vinyl mammal to be shown in the BaxBear release party. Here it is . . . the lips and tongue are sculpted with Aves Apoxie Sculpt. The rest is a combination of spray paint and hand painted acrylic. Come by El Kartel on Saturday night to check it all out!

Clothing boutique El Kartel will be hosting the Bax Bear release party on November 10. A number of artists have been given blank Bax Bears and been invited to release their artistic fury on them. I don’t know all of the artists (or even how many), but I do know that Travis Collier, Tyler Quarles, Jeremy Riley and myself will be among the artists, thanks to Sidual! Dave Barnes, a very talented local illustrator will also be taking part. Come out and check it out!

These boys know their music. And everybody else’s. Now you can too!

There are two things you should probably know about. The first is EveryoneForever which is somewhere you should go to often and which is where I found the second. The second is Dan Deacon who is incredible. Do yourself a favour and watch the videos . . . especially the one with the lizard.

Travis has been doing a lot of work with up-and-coming label Fremont. Looks like his stuff has finally been printed - you can take a look at it on his site or at Lotek (click the Freemont button at the bottom).

We had a recent project that involved designing a shoebox for a chosen pair of shoes. I took the opportunity to do another pair of customs which I could then offer with this hand-made shoebox. The box is basically finished, but the shoes have yet to be even started. I thought I would give a quick preview of the box with the shoes-to-be. This was designed and built by myself, entirely by hand in my dad’s incredibly well-stocked woodwork shop. The shoes are Adidas Originals, and one of the most unique and amazingly blank pair of shoes I have come across. I walked into Adidas looking for something I could paint on. These thing might have well had a the light of heaven beaming down on them. The stales clerk did in fact try to talk me out of buying them though when he found out my intentions for them: “They are design pieces as they are, they don’t need to be customized!”. I can appreciate that sentiment, but still, they’re asking for it . . .
Keep an eye out for the completed shoe/box combo in the next couple weeks. They should be on sale somewhere (eBay maybe?).
